Segment 36: Kentucky

OVERVIEW:

Kentucky’s segment of the Fifty Trail begins at Breaks Interstate Park and follows the Trans-America Bike Route for 160 miles into Daniel Boone National Forest at McKee where it intersects with the Sheltowee Trace, Kentucky’s premier hiking trail.

Tuning north on Sheltowee Trace the trail passes Natural Bridge State Resort Park with its 65 foot high natural sandstone bridge with a 78-foot span, and later passes Cave Run Lake.

In all, the Fifty Trail uses 137 miles of Sheltowee Trace to its northern Terminus near the Ohio River. The trail then follows roads to the bridge over the Ohio at Portsmouth, and crosses into the state of Ohio.
