Segment 27: Louisiana

OVERVIEW:

The Fifty Trail traverses Louisiana west to east at its ‘waist’—the narrowest part of the state—between Sabine Reservoir and the Mississippi River at Natchez, Mississippi. Most of the route is on roads. Highlights of the trail are two units of Kisatchie National Forest and including the seventeen mile Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway through the most rugged forest land in the state, and parts of the nearby 12.8 mile Caroline Dormon Trail through Kisatchie Hills Wilderness.
