Segment 22: Missouri

OVERVIEW:

This segment cuts NNW across eastern Missouri from the Mississippi River Bridge at Chester, Illinois to Washington, Missouri where the route crosses the Missouri River to the town of Dutzow and joins Missouri’s Katy Trail. The Katy Trail is the state trail and a linear state park, 238 miles long and 100 feet wide. It is the longest contiguous rails-to-trails conversion in the country. Parts of the Katy Trail are coincident with the American Discovery Trail, but the Fifty Trail route sticks with the Katy Trail from Dutzow west to its western end in Clinton, Missouri then follows Missouri Highway 18 due west to the Kansas border near Merwin.
